Solar Council welcomes Greens’ ambitious renewables policy

The Australian Solar Council, the peak body for the solar industry, has welcomed the Australian Greens’ ambitious commitment to 90% renewables by 2030.

“The Solar Council welcomes the Greens’ bold blueprint for delivering 90% renewables by 2030,” said John Grimes, Chief Executive of the Australian Solar Council.

“The Solar Council also welcomes the commitment to a $250 million Clean Energy Transition Fund, an essential measure to help coal workers and communities transition to a clean energy future.”

“The Solar Council has long been an advocate of solar auctions as the best way to build big solar plants across Australia and that is the mechanism the Greens policy proposes to boost large scale solar.  Solar auctions are now world’s best practice.”

“Senator Richard Di Natale and Greens’ MPs and Senators should be congratulated on developing such a comprehensive plan to create our clean energy future.”

“The Australian Solar Council continues to call on all political parties to commit to at least 50% renewables by 2030.”
