Labor 50% renewables announcement economic and environmental game changer

Media reports today that a Shorten Labor Government will commit to at least 50% renewables by 2030, shows that Australia has a bright renewable future

“This is a game changer for Australia’s economy,” said John Grimes, Chief Executive of the Australian Solar Council, the peak body for the residential, commercial and large-scale solar industry.

“50% renewables by 2030 will ensure Australia takes advantage of the biggest economic opportunity our country has ever seen – the unstoppable global transition to a clean energy future.”

“Australia will join all of its major trading partners – China, US, EU, Japan, Indonesia and South Korea – in embracing solar and renewable energy.”

“Labor’s commitment means thousands of clean energy jobs, regional development and new economic opportunities across Australia.”

“Australians want more solar and more renewables, and that is precisely what Bill Shorten is promising to deliver.”

“This is a visionary announcement and the right announcement economically, environmentally and socially.”

“There is now only one thing standing in the way of a solar future, Tony Abbott, the most radical, anti-renewables Prime Minister in Australia’s history.”

“Bill Shorten is showing he will stand up for Australia’s future. He is looking forwards, not dragging us backwards.”
